Prospecting & Metal Detecting Finds
This page contains just "some" of the more valuable items I have found in the past few years, whether by prospecting or metal detecting.
A couple are old scans but most were taken with my Sony Cybershot DSC-S30. My favorite places to prospect are the Mojave desert,
Motherlode, and Sierra Mountains of Northern California. I also enjoy metal detecting for jewelry, old coins and old relics. There's a lot
of valuable things to be found out there, whether they be natural or man-made. It just takes a little, motivation and persistence to get good
at it. If you've never taken up these hobbies, you'll be surprised to find out how relaxing and enjoyable it really can be.

Scroll down to the bottom for the homemade hopper images.

25.98 gram Mojave nugget...my first and largest. Check those drywasher piles!

1.3 gram Mojave nugget. I made this into a pendant for my wife on our 1st anniversary.

"Mojave midgets" ranging from 1/10 on up to 1.2 grams.

Six gram 14K white gold diamond ring. Found first time out with my Bandido II mMax detector!

1911 British Sovereign gold coin, nearly 1/4 oz. of real gold! But I learned it's not a genuine mint, but a gold copy.

One of about five 14K rings that I've found. Unfortunately, the stones were glass and not real.

My oldest coin to date, an 1896 Indian Head penny. Found in Bishop, Ca.

My oldest Mercury dime, 1928. Found behind an old house in Arcadia, Ca.

14K "Holy Family" Pendant

Another 14K religious pendant. Those playgrounds really pay off.

14K dainty chain with heart. This was a beach find.

.925 Mexican Silver bracelet. Another beach find.

Just one of the many .925 silver toe rings I've found.

My oldest silver Roosevelt and an old bullet. Found these on an old street torn up by construction workers.

An old (date unknown) Chinese coin. Found in a late 1800's gold mining town in the Sierras. Fire damage is evident.

Check out these dates! An old "tin" used to carry watch movements made by AWWC. Found on same street as silver dime and bullet.

A bit o' gold from the Sierras. Most of that came up in one pan...must've hit the right crevice. :-)

Gold isn't all that you find in the desert. Ain't he cute? And yes, he's been released back into the wild.

Here's something you don't find every day...a space coin!

My oldest Lincoln Wheaties, 1917. Found them about a foot apart near an old windmill.
